A friend indeed

They say "A friend in need is a friend indeed"

If I go by the general saying, I think any good person would help in need so all good people are good friends? No.

I have had a group of friends in colony (my oldest friends), from my school and from my college. I thought the longer you are a friend the closer you are, I believed they were all my best friends. But.....

While with some of my friends I could say anything on my mind without hesitation. I can do this because I know they wont judge me, I dont need to impress them. This is when I realized how some of my long time friends were not really my friends. There was this facade between us through which we would hide our vulnerabilities.

Even though the earlier friendship was long lasting ( some friends are like from when I was 5) it still wasn't a real friendship. Now, with all the inhibitions gone, the friendship is stronger.

Now my saying goes "You are you with your best friend"......

Therefore Luck => Random Number

Is there anything like luck?? It puzzles me sometimes.

If I say there is no such thing as luck there are ample occasions that I will not be able to explain an occurance. But, to attribute something completely to luck would mean believing there are things not under your control but dependent on your luck; which, is scary to even think of.

My Conclusion - Random number.

I feel there is a random numer (please note it is not luck, it is just random) which could go anyway +/-. It has evolved through the ages to be now known as luck, fate and what not.

Assume the amount of work you have done should give a result X. There is a number delta X such that the final output you get is X + delta X. This delta X is a random number a factor that cannot be determined, everytime throwing up something new. I just keep my fingers crossed that my delta X doesn't go (too) negative atleast for major things.

I also believe if we do a mean of delta X over a large number of events spread over a long time period, we would get the value ZERO.

I am not able to decide though, while calculating the mean, whether there is some weightage for delta X depending on the importance of the event. What do you think?

Sanjay: Dhanyawad chotala ji humare show par aane ke liye.
Abhi humare samvaaddata rajeev se baat hui hain. To Rajeev koi nayi khabar.

Rajeev: Haan Sanjay abhi abhi hapatal ke mahanideshak ne press conference kar ek achhi khabar sunai hain.. Unka kehna hain ki Pappu ab stable hain, aur unki iss haal ki wajah food poisoning hain.
Yeh sunte hi saari janta mein sansani phel gayi, aur Police uss Raju Dog food store ke proprietor ki talash mein nikali hain.

Sanjay : Dhanywad Rajeev. Aur humare samvaddata Manoj Raju food store par hain.

Manoj : Yaha par khabar mili hain ki Police ne unhe pakad kar police hirasat mein le liya hain. Uss par Negligence ka case to banega hi aur police puri koshish karegi ki Attemp to murder ka case bhi bane.

Appreciation - a lesson learnt

There is this thing about intelligent dumb people. They are greedy. Always wanting more, comparing oneself with achievements of others. No problem with being greedy, but it becomes one when you stop appreciating the things you already have, in the thirst for something more. Not only appreciate, actually you start complaining about not getting something you think you deserve.

Well I had been, rather I am, that way too.

While I was reading "The Kite Runner", I came across a character Hassan, who is born a slave. And actually does seem very happy leading that life. Even though the novel takes hindi filmy turns later on, but the "greedlessness" and "contentness" of this person struck a cord. He is really happy even with small gestures from his friend cum master. He goes through so many hardships, treated worse than an animal, things which I though he did not deserve even to see in dreams. But he doesnt complain.

I always thought, it was my intelligence, my hardwork that had got me where I am. But on reading the plight of this person, I realize how lucky I am to get all the oppurtunities i have been given in my life. I may not be able to stop myself from complaining, but it does make me feel a lot better thinking, I am in a better place than that Hassan or rather all the many Hassan's around me. I have learnt a lesson.
